"Out Behind the House" is one of my early egg tempera paintings. It is painted on untempered masonite. I prepare my own surfaces with a traditional animal hide glue gesso mixture. My tempera paintings are accomplished in many layers with a surface tone that reflects the mood I try to evoke in each painting. This old shed was used to store tools and things. 10 years after I had painted this piece the building collapsed and all that remained for several years was the tin roof. Now even that is gone. This building was located in back of the plantation house from "Window on Georgia". Many of my pieces are available in limited edition and/or as a Glicée print. Please contact me for availability.

"Georgia Lace"
Georgia Lace
"Georgia Lace" is another of my early egg tempera works painted around the time that "Out Behind the House" was created. It is
also painted on untempered masonite. The series that I started with "Window on Georgia" which includes this piece was to pay homage to the rural Georgia farmer. Many of the old farmsteads had fallen in disrepair because of other development and the old buildings left behind reflect the hard work and link to the land of most country people. The original painting was purchased in 1989 by the State of Georgia through a grant. Please contact me for
print availability.

"Window on Georgia"
Window On Georgia "Window on Georgia" is the reflection of the share cropper in the window (eyes) of the plantation owner. You can see the old shacks, falling into disrepair as is the main plantation house, reflected in and viewed through the windows. The glass is the antiquated wavy glass only found in the oldest of windows. The house is trying to make a comeback with fresh white paint. But the truth is that, painted 22 years ago, this plantation house was never lived in and although used in TV commercials and at least 2 made for tv movies, it has been left to rot in the countryside.
