2008 Equine Art Show with horses depicted in oils, charcoal, acrylics, watercolor, photography
In The Company of Horses
"In The Company of Horses" equine art show is the first ever of its kind in the Madison, Georgia area.

Featured artist Mary Leslie presents her best equine artworks at Pantheon Fine Art Gallery’s show “In The Company of Horses”. Joining her are 8 regional artists’ horse art works in the upstairs gallery.

It has taken months of planning to assemble over 40 art works representing the horse in Georgia. Mary Leslie, who owns several of her own horses, leads the work with 20 of her own pieces. The works show horses in action, regal poses, portraits and fanciful depictions of horses in oils, acrylic, charcoal, pen and ink, and photography. The opening reception was held on May 30 at the Pantheon Gallery which is located in the Madison Markets building on West Washington Street in Madison. Horse owners and art lovers from throughout the region came out to celebrate the art of this nobel creature. The art pieces displayed a combination of speed and strength, beauty and power. Throughout our history, horses have been one of the most economically
important domesticated animals. Although their importance as beasts of burden declined over the last century, the history of the horse is prominent in religion, art, transportation, farming, and warfare. We’ve lived and worked together for thousands of years and our love of this beautiful animal is prominent in the artworks on display at the Pantheon.

The art will be on display at the Pantheon Fine Art Gallery through July 12th, 2008. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 am - 5 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm. The show is also open by special arrangement for visitors by calling gallery co-owner Tracy Peabody at 706-818-2291 or gallery director Peter Muzyka at 706-474-3230.
